Managing Stress and Anxiety

July 7, 2022 at 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

£20.00

BUSINESS CLUB MEETING

Introduction

Research on creativity, productivity, and the psychology of daily working life has revealed people are more productive, creative and loyal when they are happy. Happy people also provide much better client satisfaction than those with poor wellbeing at work.

However, right now, in these socio/economically challenging times, many people are experiencing depression, anxiety and stress. In fact, poor mental health is now one of the major reasons for sickness absence.

The CBI says:

  • Absence due to sickness can cost at the very least £495 per employee per year – a high cost for SMEs;
  • 63% of employees believe that corporate wellbeing provision enhances staff loyalty;
  • On average, each person off with stress and anxiety took around 16.5 days off work;
  • Employees suffering from stress are more likely to report depression and other psychosomatic complaints. They take much longer to recover from illness than do workers without high levels of work-related stress;

With this in mind, whether you are an employer or employee, you will appreciate the importance of self-care in managing stress and anxiety. It will help to strengthen the personal resilience needed to cope with work and life.

The Workshop Content

This is a highly interactive, fact filled, practical workshop and it will be delivered in an informal, entertaining manner and will help to manage stress and anxiety by:

  • Explaining what stress and anxiety is;
  • Teaching you simple meditation techniques that do not take years to perfect – this includes meditation with the help of wine and chocolate
  • Introducing and demonstrating other techniques to use in your stress busting toolkit;
  • Allowing you actually to experience the benefits each technique offers.

After the workshop, you can network with other members over refreshments and ask Alison any further questions. What’s more, each participant will take home a FREE personal inhaler filled with therapeutic, relaxing aromatic essential oils.

Alison Mo is a registered IFA Level 4 Clinical Aromatherapist specialising in conditions such as stress, anxiety. Her treatments support and work in conjunction with conventional medicine and her symptom management knowledge addresses acute, chronic and terminal conditions and palliative care.

In addition, she also uses simple but highly effective meditation techniques to help calm and soothe the mind which can be fitted into any person’s daily routine.

She works at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice as an Allied Health Professional and runs corporate health and well-being courses. She also advises on formulations for bespoke spa products.
