SUMMARY:Managing Stress and Anxiety
DESCRIPTION:BUSINESS CLUB MEETING \nIntroduction \nResearch on creativity\, productivity\, and the psychology of daily working life has revealed people are more productive\, creative and loyal when they are happy. Happy people also provide much better client satisfaction than those with poor wellbeing at work. \nHowever\, right now\, in these socio/economically challenging times\, many people are experiencing depression\, anxiety and stress. In fact\, poor mental health is now one of the major reasons for sickness absence. \nThe CBI says: \n\nAbsence due to sickness can cost at the very least £495 per employee per year – a high cost for SMEs;\n63% of employees believe that corporate wellbeing provision enhances staff loyalty;\nOn average\, each person off with stress and anxiety took around 16.5 days off work;\nEmployees suffering from stress are more likely to report depression and other psychosomatic complaints. They take much longer to recover from illness than do workers without high levels of work-related stress;\n\nWith this in mind\, whether you are an employer or employee\, you will appreciate the importance of self-care in managing stress and anxiety. It will help to strengthen the personal resilience needed to cope with work and life. \nThe Workshop Content \nThis is a highly interactive\, fact filled\, practical workshop and it will be delivered in an informal\, entertaining manner and will help to manage stress and anxiety by: \n\nExplaining what stress and anxiety is;\nTeaching you simple meditation techniques that do not take years to perfect – this includes meditation with the help of wine and chocolate\nIntroducing and demonstrating other techniques to use in your stress busting toolkit;\nAllowing you actually to experience the benefits each technique offers.\n\nAfter the workshop\, you can network with other members over refreshments and ask Alison any further questions. What’s more\, each participant will take home a FREE personal inhaler filled with therapeutic\, relaxing aromatic essential oils. \nAlison Mo is a registered IFA Level 4 Clinical Aromatherapist specialising in conditions such as stress\, anxiety. Her treatments support and work in conjunction with conventional medicine and her symptom management knowledge addresses acute\, chronic and terminal conditions and palliative care. \nIn addition\, she also uses simple but highly effective meditation techniques to help calm and soothe the mind which can be fitted into any person’s daily routine. \nShe works at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice as an Allied Health Professional and runs corporate health and well-being courses. She also advises on formulations for bespoke spa products. \nBOOK NOW.\nEmail: gerry@londonscc.co.uk \nPhone: 07958 584479 \n A £20 CHARGE IS MADE TO HELP COVER COST OF MATERIALS\, AND THERE WILL BE COMPLIMENTARY SNACKS\, WINE AND SOFT DRINKS.   \nWe are pleased to thank Staybridge Suites for hosting this event

SUMMARY:BUSINESS CLUB MEETING: Face-to Face: A Celebration
DESCRIPTION:“Face-to Face – A Celebration” \nCelebrating Diversity in Business and Social Settings \nAs you know\, because of COVID restrictions\, London Southside Chamber of Commerce has been unable to hold any face-to-face events for over sixteen months now. We have done our best to keep people connected by telephone and through webinars but it isn’t quite the same. Members like to get together\, swap ideas and develop business contacts. \nAs society slowly starts to open up and it becomes possible to meet in larger groups again\, we plan to celebrate this liberation with an evening get-together at an hotel run by Radiana Vlahova\, one of our members. \nDuring the pandemic\, everyone has become only too painfully aware of how important direct contact with other people is for our happiness and wellbeing. An important emphasis of this celebration will be on inclusivity. We sometimes forget the extent to which people with a disability\, physical\, mental\, spoken or hearing\, are often excluded. \nDuring the pandemic we have run some webinars encouraging members to recognise this lack of inclusivity and advise them on ways to overcome it. In the course of this\, our first new face-to-face event for some time\, you will receive guidance from specialists in Disability on how best to relate to disabled people and communicate effectively. \nBOOK NOW.\nEmail: gerry@londonscc.co.uk \nPhone: 07958 584479 \n \nTHERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THIS EVENT\, WHICH IS SPONSORED BY THE NATIONAL LOTTERY COMMUNITY FUND\, AND THERE WILL BE A COMPLIMENTARY BUFFET WITH WINE AND SOFT DRINKS

SUMMARY:OPEN SOURCE DUE DILIGENCE - BUSINESS WEBINAR
DESCRIPTION:So\, what has open source research ever done for us?\nThursday 29th April 2021\, 4.00pm to 5.00pm \nLSCC Virtual Meeting Powered by Zoom \nUsing Open Source research for Due Diligence \nIf you employ someone in a role that involves commercial confidentiality\, or there is some sensitivity around it\, or if you are looking to sign a contract with a new company\, you will know about conducting “due diligence” enquiries and\, at some stage\, you will be doing “open source research” but what exactly is that? This webinar will explore how effective it can be. \nMany people and businesses think that “open source research” involves nothing more than a Google search\, and are content to rely on that as the extent of their due diligence enquiries. If you get it wrong there is the risk of employing someone who is not who they appear to be – which can have a significant impact on your business. Furthermore\, recent legislation and court cases have due made plain that regulatory authorities are focusing much more on what steps businesses have taken to ensure that the companies and businesses they deal with are legitimate. Failure to do so can result in both financial penalties and reputational damage. \nVentham Consulting specialises in open source research\, using techniques and skills based on those learned in specialist operations of policing and intelligence\, and adapted to the wider business and civil world. We recently submitted evidence about the value of this form of investigation to the House of Commons’ Treasury Select Committee inquiry into economic crime. This webinar is designed to give a background to the sort of problems encountered\, the opportunities offered by online research\, and how it can assist your business. \nYou are invited to join the meeting via Zoom. \nWhen: 29th April at 4:00pm UK time. \nhttps://zoom.us/j/95022365708?pwd=WE9ZL04rL0laV25yU1NBQ1l5cmdtQT09 \nMeeting ID: 950 2236 5708 \nPasscode: k7N%3vxL8D \nFor further information please contact Gerry on 07958 584479 or email gerry@londonscc.co.uk

SUMMARY:BUSINESS AFTER COVID: Disability Inclusion
DESCRIPTION:LSCC\, moving business forward together responsibly! \nWe would very much like to have your input on the launch and role of a new LSCC Action Committee being set up by the Chamber to support members and other businesses\, with particular emphasis on staff and potential new recruits who may suffer from one or more disabilities. \nAs we enter a new phase of the global pandemic crisis and in the light of the economic challenges facing us all\, London Southside Chamber of Commerce is developing a new and proactive response\, in order for us better to assist businesses. It will have a specific concern with encouraging member businesses to be fully involved with their local community and particularly with disabled members of that community. \nPrior to the launch of some new and exciting LSCC initiatives\, we intend to enter into open dialogue with all interested parties. Firstly to host an open discussion and Q&A session for your views and feedback on how best to serve our members\, and increase our reach to other local business. Through the Committee you will\, for example\, have access to some of South Bank University’s business resources. This event will act as the perfect platform for growth and business innovation with the support of LSCC and its partners and contacts. \nPlease come along to this virtual event on Thursday 25th March from 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm and let us know what you think and if you would like to be involved. We hope that together we will be stronger and better placed to understand\, adapt and respond to the current and future business climates \nYou are invited to join the meeting via Microsoft Teams. \nWhen: 25th March at 04:00pm UK time. \n \nTHERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THIS EVENT\, WHICH IS SPONSORED BY THE NATIONAL LOTTERY COMMUNITY FUND
