SUMMARY:Webinar: Minimising Risk for Staff with a Disability: Catching & Spreading COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:Now that most businesses are being encouraged to open\, everyone is facing the challenge of making sure we keep the Covid-19 infection rate as low as possible. For those businesses who employ staff with a disability\, adjustments may need to be made. \nEmployers have a duty to keep all staff safe\, and as an individual or as a business owner with responsibilities in keeping employees and the public as safe as possible\, we all know the mantra: \n\nMaintain a social distance of at least 1 metre away\nWear a face covering\nWash and sanitise your hands often\n\nBut for disabled staff members this is not always practical or possible…………… \nAre you doing all these things correctly? Are you self-taught or following guidelines?  Consider the following: \n\nThe 20 second Happy Birthday method is only the start of effective hand hygiene;\n\nWearing gloves could make things worse;\n\nSome commonly used types face coverings offer no protection at all.\n\nOver doing PPE is just as bad for your business as not using the appropriate amount.\nThere is a routine that anyone who shares a workspace should adopt.\n\nAlison Mo\, a clinician who is working at the Covid-19 front line\, will be giving a virtual talk to LSCC members and colleagues about how to minimise your risk of catching and spreading Covid-19. Her talk will address the above practical issues and much more\, such as demonstrating a very effective handwashing procedure for soap and water as well as one to use for alcohol hand sanitiser. \n \nThere was no charge for these Disability related events\, which were sponsored by the National Lottery Community Fund \nRegistration has now closed.
